Curriculum and Training Resources

There are two courses currently available in the Continuing Training series. In addition to the two courses, there is also the Concurrent Planning Micro Learning (Central RTA).

Principles of Concurrent Planning is the first course in the standardized statewide Continuing Training series. The state has recorded that inappropriate permanency goals are common and that the lack of parent engagement and robust reunification efforts result in children and youth who are in out-of-home care longer than necessary. The Principles of Concurrent Planning curriculum was created to help address these concerns. The priorities for improvement throughout the state are two-fold. One, we hope to see thorough and ongoing engagement about multiple permanency plans with children, youth, families, caregivers, Tribes, and community support networks. Two, consistent documentation of robust concurrent planning efforts in all appropriate cases. Timely permanency and lifelong relationships are the ultimate goals of Concurrent Planning. Every child needs a loving permanent home with a strong network of supports for the child and family once child welfare is no longer involved. We get there by including all relevant parties in ongoing, honest conversations about the goals of the plans created to provide that safety, permanency, and well-being.

Concurrent Planning: Conversations and Documentation is the second course in the standardized statewide Continuing Training series. This course aims to improve practice by highlighting what activities are involved in concurrent planning, exploring how to prepare for and engage in those activities, and providing practical tools to ensure that work is consistently and accurately recorded in appropriate documentation. This course also provides skill practice activities to solidify these concepts into real world practice change.
